motion detectors DEFENSOR MD 230° or 280°
Assembly & Installation

DEFENSOR IS ESY BECAUSE IT SIMPLY OFFERS ENHANCED PROTECTION

The DEFENSOR motion detectors can be relied upon in every situation thanks to intelligent vandalism and sabotage protection or time-dependent operating modes. Particularly convenient: With the factory settings, the device can be commissioned immediately and the settings can be conveniently adjusted at a later date using the ESY Pen and ESY app. Tailored configuration of fields of detection and variants with switch-off delay times based on motion direction detection mean that this device can be controlled even more precisely, while the many mounting options ensure great flexibility.

• Motion and daylight-dependent switching of the outdoor lighting
• Password protection against unauthorised parameterisation
• Factory settings ensure immediate operability
• Quick installation using push terminals up to 2.5 mm²
• Through-wiring thanks to double diaphragm line entry, including for an earthing cable with a diameter of 15 mm
• Masking of fields of detection thanks to the lens mask that can be cut to size
• Very high overvoltage protection (surge voltage 2 kV, repeating fast transients 4 kV)
• Zero-cross switching for LED switching that protects the relay
• Push button input
• Impulse mode
• Special bracket for mounting on inner and outer corners available as an accessory

PRACTICAL ADVICE

Before installing the device, please observe the following:

• The motion detector is a passive infrared sensor that detects moving sources of heat (people, vehicles etc.)
• Be sure to account for the characteristics of the surrounding area, such as neighbouring properties and proximity to roads, to prevent the light from switching on unnecessarily
• Make sure that the motion detector has a clear field of vision across the desired area of operation because infrared rays cannot penetrate solid objects
• Occasionally, small animals or sources of heat located behind bushes that are moving in the wind may cause the light to switch on unnecessarily
• Maximum range can be achieved by installing the device laterally to the direction of approach — the sensor can only detect movement that is directly in front of it at short range (please refer to the diagrams in the quick reference guide)
• Maintain a distance of at least one metre from the connected lighting system to avoid affecting operation of the built-in light sensor; do not aim light sources directly at the sensor
• The motion detector should only be installed on a stable, flat surface (wall)
